Delta Introduces Economy Comfort on International Flights

In February, Delta announced a major investment in its international fleet with plans to introduce a premium economy section –"Economy Comfort" –on all long-haul international flights. Customers may now purchase Economy Comfort seats for travel beginning June 1 for an additional $80-$160 USD one-way fee, depending on the destination.  Elite status frequent flyers may enjoy complimentary or discounted access to this new premium economy section.

Delta is exploring sales of this product through GDSs.  At this time, Economy Comfort seats are available through delta.com and Delta Reservations. Travel agents may assist their customers with selecting these seats by visiting the “My Trips” section on the delta.com home page and entering the record locator and passenger’s last name (log-in not required).

Economy Comfort seating will be offered on Delta's Boeing 747, 757, 767 and 777 aircraft and Airbus A330 aircraft flying long-haul (6+ hours) intercontinental routes between the U.S. and Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, the Middle East, South America (Lima, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Săo Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago only) and select intra-Asia flights. Economy Comfort seating is limited and may not be available on all flights.

SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members and up to eight companions traveling on the same reservation will enjoy complimentary access to Economy Comfort. Customers purchasing full-fare Economy tickets (Y, B and M fares) will also be able to select Economy Comfort seats for free. In addition, Gold and Silver Medallion members and up to eight companions traveling on the same reservation as the Medallion member will enjoy 50 and 25 percent discounts, respectively, from the published one-way fees.

Amenities include early boarding and complimentary spirits, in addition to all other standard international Economy Class amenities, including complimentary meals, beer, wine, entertainment, blankets and pillows. In-seat power will also be available on most aircraft equipped with personal entertainment systems, along with free HBO programming (beginning in July 2011) and other for-fee content. In-seat power and seat-back screens are being installed through 2013.

Delta’s premium class of service, BusinessElite, continues to offer customers the most generous array of benefits and exclusive on-the-ground and in-flight amenities, including SkyPriority benefits, full flat-bed seats, enhanced world-class dining options and complimentary Delta Sky Club access.
