Attention GDS Users: Beware of Emails That Ask You
to Click Link to “Sign-on” or “Log-on”
Within
the past week ASTA has received numerous reports of members
receiving “phishing” emails that ask the reader to “click on” a
link to “log-on” to the agent’s Global Distribution System (GDS)
to: obtain important security information; confirm the user’s
profile; or receive a GDS activity report. Fraudsters have
become extremely sophisticated in their ability to create
authentic looking emails, complete with the GDS’ logo, designed
to entice unsuspecting travel agents to click on a link that
then takes them to what looks like an authentic GDS login page.
Once a login is attempted on the fake login page, the fraudster
collects the agent’s user name and password, which is later used
to access your GDS and issue airline tickets. Some fraudsters
are so sophisticated that they will divert the user to the
authentic login page on the second login attempt to prevent the
user from becoming suspicious.
ASTA members are reminded to warn all employees and independent
contractors to never attempt to log into a GDS after clicking on
a login link found in an email – even if the email appears to be
an authentic email from your GDS vendor or the Airlines
Reporting Corp. (ARC).
To help prevent your business from being compromised, it is
important that all users of your systems be reminded to:
• NEVER login to a GDS from any link provided in an email (even
if it appears credible);
• NEVER reply to an email or pop-up message asking for financial
or login information;
• NEVER email financial or login information in an unsecure
format; and,
• ONLY access the GDS login page by either typing or using a
bookmark of the GDS vendor’s web address.

Delta Air Line
Amends Policy for Infant Travel
(May 30,
2012) - Effective for tickets issued on or after May 27, 2012,
Delta’s policy for infant travel has been amended as follows:
Infants who reach their 2nd birthday during their journey
(mid-trip) will be required to occupy a seat and purchase a
roundtrip ticket at the applicable fare for the entire journey for
all domestic and international travel on or after May 27, 2012.
